As the countdown for Thanksgiving approaches one week(!), we continue our Thanksgiving Pie Showdown to help you find the best pies in Metro Detroit. Last week the argument was made as to why pecan pies are the best pies, and while they are no doubt a great combination of sweet and nutty, it doesn’t match the even better combination of fall flavors found in a pumpkin pie.
Despite the winter blast we all “enjoyed” last week, there is no pie that better embodies the spirit of the fall than pumpkin. The pumpkin flavor goes perfectly with crisp afternoons, flannel jackets, and the crunch of leaves under our feet. While we know that Michigan doesn’t always corroborate with our seasonal desires, there’s no denying that a freshly made pumpkin pie deserves a spot on the Thanksgiving table.
The brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg flavors matched with the perfect amount of whipped cream on top is enough to make us want to skip right to dessert. So if your mouth is watering as much as ours is right now, here are some places where you can grab the perfect pumpkin pie for your holiday table.
